Quizizz
Quizizz is very similar to Kahoot! in that they both allow students to compete against each other with the use of their devices. However, Quizizz actually does a few things that Kahoot! does not. You'll have to be the judge as to which tool you like better.
1. Quizizz shows the students the questions directly on their devices and allows them to go through the assessment at their own pace. They will not see a scoreboard after each question, but rather at the end of the quiz. For teachers and students who don't like the super competitive manner of Kahoot!, this should work better for you.
2. Quizizz allows you to create memes (or use the ones available at Quizizz) that pop up when a student gets an answer right or wrong (see below for examples). Kids love memes, especially if you can tailor them to something funny that is going on at that time and place in their lives.
Overall, Quizizz seems to be a really great alternative to Kahoot! and maybe an even better option for many teachers and students. It doesn't hurt to have multiple formative assessment tools in your toolkit. Why not play around with them both! That way, the students will never be bored!
